Alisa Chard is a University of Maryland Doctorate of Nursing Practice student in her final year of study. She is completing her degree with a focus as a Family Nurse Practitioner and plans to graduate in May 2024. After graduation, she hopes to attend an Advanced Practice Provider fellowship with a focus on community health and under-resourced populations. Before graduate school, Alisa received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Molloy College on Long Island, New York in December 2012 and immediately commissioned into the US Navy Nurse Corps. Alisa served as an active-duty Navy nurse for 8 and a half years, specializing primarily as an Emergency Room nurse. Her duty stations included San Diego, California and Yokosuka, Japan as well as briefly aboard the USNS Comfort during the COVID response in New York City. Alisa’s doctoral quality improvement project focused on improving chronic disease health outcomes at a Federally Qualified Health Center in Montgomery County, Maryland. With the use of University of California at San Francisco’s Center for Excellence in Primary Care health coaching curriculum, Alisa worked with the site to create a Medical Assistant led health coaching program. She looks forward to meeting conference participants and discussing her quality improvement project further.
