The roles and responsibilities of the Nursing Practice Development practitioners and specialists (NPDs) are based on the Association for Nursing Professional Development (ANPD) Scope and Standards. Together, the team functions as learning facilitators, change agents, mentors, leaders, champions for scientific inquiry, advocates for the NPD specialty, and partners for practice transitions. They support the mission and vision of UCSF Health by performing ongoing assessments of the environment to develop and support education, role development, collaborative partnerships, inquiry, onboarding and orientation, and competency management for staff in the Department of Nursing. They ensure optimal care and high-quality patient outcomes through learning, change, professional role competence, and the growth of nursing staff.
