The roles and responsibilities of the practitioners and specialists (NPDs) are based on the Association for Nursing Professional Development (ANPD) Scope and Standards. Together, the team functions as learning facilitators, change agents, mentors, leaders, champions for scientific inquiry, advocates for the NPD specialty, and partners for practice transitions. They support the mission and vision of UCSF Health by performing an ongoing assessment of the environment to develop and support ongoing education, role development, collaborative partnerships, inquiry, onboarding orientation, and competency management for staff in the Dept. of Nursing. They are able to ensure optimal care and high-quality patient outcomes through learning, change, professional role competence, and growth of nursing staff.
