Sylvie Baudart is a native of France who holds dual degrees in Chemical Engineering and Nursing. She joined UCSF in 2007 as a Clinical Nurse in the Intensive Cardiac Care (ICC) Unit. During her tenure there she chaired the ICC Quality and Safety Council and co-chaired the Critical Care Practice Committee. She was instrumental in the effort to obtain the American Association of Critical Care Nurses Beacon Gold Award for ICC. She then joined the Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS) team in the Advanced Heart Failure Comprehensive Care Center where she leads a team of Nurses and APP. The team takes care of some of the sickest patients at UCSF who need mechanical life support to survive to recovery or advanced heart therapy such as transplant. The MCS team has not only provided outstanding care to their patient population, it has also made significant contribution to further knowledge around MCS devices management with over 9 accepted abstracts at ISHLT and ASAIO in the past three years, grants awards and manuscript publications.
